CTEvel

CTEVel (also known as CTE Vel) is an eroded impact crater located on the far side of the Moon. It is part of the Tranquillitatis Facies region, which is a large volcanic plain on the Moon's surface. The crater is about 55 kilometers in diameter and has a relatively simple morphology, with a well-defined rim and a gently sloping floor.

The CTE Vel crater is thought to have formed as a result of an impact event in the distant past. The impact is believed to have occurred on or near the lunar surface, where it excavated a depression that was then eroded away over time by the relentless pounding of meteorites and other space debris.

The region surrounding CTE Vel is characterized by a combination of dark and bright materials, which reflect and emit different amounts of radiation. This effect is visible in the maps of the Moon, where the crater appears as a bright spot surrounded by a sea of dark material.

Several orbital and ground-based observations have provided valuable insights into the CTE Vel crater. The crater is less prominent than some of the other impact craters on the Moon, suggesting that it has undergone significant erosion over time.

Due to its location on the far side of the Moon, it was not visible to early astronomers. The crater was first observed in the 1990s when high-resolution images of the Moon's surface became available. With ongoing scientific research, CTE Vel is poised to contribute further knowledge about the geological history of the Moon.
