CAUTIin
CAUTIin is a term that refers to Catheter-Associated Urinary Tract Infections. These infections occur when bacteria enter the urinary tract through a urinary catheter. Urinary catheters are thin tubes inserted into the bladder to drain urine. While often necessary for medical reasons, they can introduce bacteria, leading to infection. Symptoms of CAUTIin can include fever, pain or burning during urination (if the catheter is still in place, this may manifest as discomfort in the bladder area), cloudy or foul-smelling urine, and an increased urge to urinate. In some cases, confusion or delirium can be the primary symptom, especially in older adults.
