CAATrelated refers to sequences, regulatory elements, and proteins associated with the CAAT box in eukaryotic gene promoters. The CAAT box is a cis-regulatory DNA motif, typically containing the core sequence CAAT and usually located about 75 to 80 bases upstream of the transcription start site. It contributes to promoter strength and transcriptional responsiveness, often functioning together with other core promoter elements such as the TATA box to help recruit RNA polymerase II.
