Bygningsverk

Bygningsverk is a Norwegian term used in architecture, civil engineering, and legislation to denote built structures and the works of construction. The term literally translates to building works or built structures and is used to refer to both the completed facilities and the construction project as such.

It covers residential, commercial, and industrial buildings as well as other permanent structures such as bridges or tunnels that constitute part of the built environment. In practice, bygningsverk includes the design, construction, installation, and finishing of the building, including foundations, superstructure, and major systems (electrical, plumbing, HVAC), as well as external works and site development. The term can apply to the physical object and to the series of activities that create it.

Legal framework: In Norway, bygningsverk is central in planning and building law. Distinctions: The word is related to, but not identical with, "bygning" (a building) or "anlegg" (facility).
