Butanov

Butanov is a chemical compound with the formula C4H10. It is one of the isomers of butane, differing in the arrangement of its carbon atoms. Specifically, butanov refers to the straight-chain alkane, n-butane. In n-butane, the four carbon atoms are connected in a linear sequence. It is a saturated hydrocarbon, meaning it contains only single bonds between carbon atoms and is fully saturated with hydrogen atoms.

n-Butane is a highly flammable gas at standard temperature and pressure, colorless, and with a distinct odor. It is a component of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), often mixed with propane. n-Butane is used as a fuel source, a refrigerant, and as a feedstock in the petrochemical industry for the production of maleic anhydride and other chemicals. It can also be used as a solvent. The straight-chain structure of n-butane influences its physical properties, such as its boiling point and melting point, distinguishing it from its branched isomer, isobutane (2-methylpropane).
