Bulunsky

Bulunsky is a district (ulus) of the Sakha Republic, Russia. It is located in the northern part of the republic, in the Arctic zone. The administrative center of Bulunsky District is the settlement of Tiksi. The district's territory is characterized by its vast, sparsely populated landscapes, including tundra and coastal areas along the Laptev Sea. The Lena River delta is a significant geographical feature within the district.

The economy of Bulunsky District is primarily based on reindeer herding, fishing, and hunting. These traditional activities are central to the lifestyle of the indigenous peoples inhabiting the region. Tiksi serves as a port and an important transportation hub for the district. The climate is extremely harsh, with long, cold winters and short, cool summers. Temperatures can drop significantly, and the region experiences polar night for a considerable period of the year.

Bulunsky District is home to Sakha people, also known as Yakuts, as well as Evenks and other indigenous groups. Their culture is deeply connected to the Arctic environment. The population density is very low, reflecting the challenging living conditions.
