Buglelike refers to musical instruments that share characteristics with the bugle, a simple brass instrument known for its conical bore and lack of valves or keys, which restricts it to playing a limited range of notes. Instruments categorized as buglelike typically feature a similar conical bore and produce sound through a mouthpiece, but may incorporate additional features to expand their tonal capabilities.

The primary distinction between a traditional bugle and buglelike instruments lies in their ability to produce a full chromatic scale. While a bugle can only play a limited number of notes due to its fixed fingering, buglelike instruments often include valves, rotary slides, or other mechanisms that allow for the production of additional pitches.
