Bruchberechnungen, also known as fraction calculations, involve arithmetic operations with fractions. A fraction represents a part of a whole, typically written as a numerator (top number) over a denominator (bottom number), separated by a line. For example, 1/2 represents one out of two equal parts.

Adding and subtracting fractions requires a common denominator. If the denominators are the same, the numerators are added or subtracted accordingly. If the denominators differ, they must be converted to a common denominator, often by finding the least common multiple (LCM) of the original denominators. Once a common denominator is established, the addition or subtraction proceeds as with identical denominators.

Multiplying fractions is straightforward: multiply the numerators together and multiply the denominators together. The resulting fraction can then be simplified if possible. Division of fractions involves multiplying the first fraction by the reciprocal of the second fraction. The reciprocal of a fraction is obtained by inverting its numerator and denominator.

Simplifying fractions, also known as reducing fractions, involves dividing both the numerator and the denominator by their greatest common divisor (GCD). This results in an equivalent fraction with the smallest possible whole numbers in the numerator and denominator. Understanding these basic operations is fundamental for further mathematical concepts.
