Bromwasserstoffsäure

Bromwasserstoffsäure is the aqueous solution of hydrogen bromide (HBr). Hydrogen bromide is a colorless gas that is highly soluble in water. Bromwasserstoffsäure is a strong acid, meaning it dissociates almost completely in water to form hydronium ions (H3O+) and bromide ions (Br-). Its chemical formula is commonly written as HBr(aq).

Applications of bromwasserstoffsäure include its use as a reagent in organic synthesis for the preparation of alkyl bromides and other organic compounds. It also finds use in the production of inorganic bromides and in certain etching processes. Due to its corrosive nature, proper safety precautions, including adequate ventilation and personal protective equipment, are essential when handling this substance.
