Bordiga

Bordiga was an influential Italian Marxist philosopher, politician, and revolutionary, born on June 24, 1889, in Resina (modern Resina di Napoli), Italy, and died on July 25, 1970, inSUBWhere he lived the remainder of his life. He is best known for his staunch adherence to orthodox Marxism and his opposition to both reformist socialism and communist parties that deviated from Marxist principles.

Bordiga played a prominent role in the Italian Socialist Party (Partito Socialista Italiano - PSI) and was a founding member of the Italian Communist Party (Partito Comunista d'Italia - PCd'I) in 1921. He was a key figure in shaping early Italian communism, advocating for revolutionary socialism rooted in Marxist theory and emphasizing the importance of a disciplined, vanguard party. He strongly opposed the rise of Stalinism and the bureaucratic practices that diverged from Marxist-Leninist ideals.

Throughout his political career, Bordiga was known for his critical stance on Soviet policies, particularly during the era of Stalin's leadership. He believed that the Soviet Union, under Stalin, had betrayed the revolutionary aims of socialism and betrayed proletarian internationalism. His views often placed him at odds with other communist leaders and factions.

After the suppression of the Italian Communist Party under fascist rule, Bordiga remained a marginal figure in Italian politics, continuing his theoretical work and advocating for revolutionary Marxism. His writings and speeches emphasized the importance of class struggle, the role of the party, and the necessity of political independence for the working class.

Though less active in mainstream politics later in life, Bordiga's contributions have remained influential among certain Marxist and communist circles, particularly those critical of reformism and authoritarianism within the socialist movement.
