Bohrlochübermessungen, also known as borehole logging or well logging, refers to a suite of in-situ measurements taken within a borehole. These measurements are crucial for understanding the geological formations encountered during drilling operations. The data obtained provides valuable information about the physical properties of the rock and fluid content of the subsurface.

Various types of logging tools exist, each designed to measure specific parameters. These include geophysical logs, which assess properties like electrical resistivity, spontaneous potential, gamma ray emission, neutron porosity, and acoustic velocity. Geochemical logs can determine the elemental composition of the formation. Mechanical logs measure borehole diameter, deviation, and casing integrity. Direct sampling methods, such as core sampling and fluid sampling, can also be considered part of borehole measurements, providing physical specimens for laboratory analysis.
