Bodenhausen

Bodenhausen is a municipality in the Hesse, Germany administrative region of Gießen. It is situated in the district of Giessen, approximately 9 kilometers southeast of Gießen.

As of 2020, Bodenhausen has an area of 11.9 square kilometers. The municipality consists of 3 parts: Bodenhausen, Obertshausen, and Göllingen. The terrain is relatively flat, with the terrain elevation ranging from 178 to 245 meters above sea level.

Bodenhausen is primarily an agricultural community, with its economy being driven by farming and related industries. The region is also known for its rich cultural heritage, with several historical sites and landmarks located within its boundaries.

Historical records indicate that the area has been inhabited since ancient times, with finds of Roman-era objects and other archaeological artifacts located in the region. The village's name is believed to have originated from the medieval Frankish language, with the term "Bodenhausen" possibly signifying "high settlement" or "upper house."
