Blåvitt

Blåvitt is the nickname of IFK Göteborg, a Swedish professional football club based in Gothenburg. The club was founded in 1904 as part of the Idrottsföreningen Kamraterna (IFK) federation and is one of Sweden’s oldest and most successful football teams. The team is known for its blue and white home kit, which gave rise to the nickname Blåvitt.

IFK Göteborg competes in Allsvenskan, Sweden’s top football division, and has won national championships and Svenska Cupen titles on multiple occasions. The club’s most notable achievements on the European stage are two UEFA Cup titles, won in 1982–83 and 1986–87, making Göteborg one of the most successful Swedish clubs in European competition.

The club plays its home matches in Gothenburg, drawing strong local support and maintaining rivalries with other Gothenburg clubs, notably GAIS. Over the years, Blåvitt has developed a substantial youth system and produced players who have contributed to Swedish football domestically and abroad.

Today, Blåvitt remains an enduring symbol of IFK Göteborg and Swedish football, continuing to compete in national leagues and European qualifiers when successful in domestic play.
