Bläschenflüssigkeit

Bläschenflüssigkeit, also known as blister fluid, is a serous or seropurulent exudate that accumulates within a blister. Blisters are localized collections of fluid within or beneath the epidermis. The formation of blister fluid is a response to injury or irritation of the skin.

The composition of blister fluid varies depending on the cause of the blister. In cases of thermal burns or friction blisters, the fluid is typically clear and straw-colored, resembling serum. This fluid consists primarily of water, electrolytes, proteins, and some inflammatory mediators. It is essentially an ultrafiltrate of plasma that leaks from damaged capillaries in the dermis.

When blisters are caused by infections, such as impetigo or certain viral infections, the blister fluid may become cloudy or purulent. This indicates the presence of white blood cells, bacteria, or cellular debris. The appearance of the fluid can therefore provide clues about the underlying etiology of the blister.

Bläschenflüssigkeit plays a role in the healing process. It helps to protect the underlying dermis from further injury and infection, and it provides a medium for the migration of cells involved in tissue repair. As healing progresses, the fluid is reabsorbed, and the blister roof eventually detaches or dries up. In medical contexts, the analysis of blister fluid can sometimes be used for diagnostic purposes, particularly when an infection is suspected.
