Bluie

Bluie refers to a series of small, inflatable, rubberized assault boats developed by the United States during World War II. These boats were designed for rapid deployment and transport of troops and equipment across rivers and other bodies of water in amphibious operations. Their inflatable nature made them lightweight and relatively easy to transport when deflated, yet capable of carrying a significant load once inflated.

The Bluie boats were constructed from durable rubberized fabric and could be inflated by foot pumps or by using compressed air cylinders. They were typically propelled by oars or small outboard motors, offering flexibility in their use depending on the tactical situation. Their maneuverability and shallow draft allowed them to operate in areas inaccessible to larger landing craft.

Several variants of the Bluie boat were produced, each with slightly different specifications and capacities. They played a crucial role in various Pacific and European theater operations, enabling Allied forces to cross water obstacles effectively and secure beachheads.
