Blomhuvud

Blomhuvud is a Swedish noun meaning "flower head." The term is formed from blom ("flower") and huvud ("head") and is used to describe the part of a flower that bears the reproductive organs. In everyday language and in some descriptive horticultural contexts, blomhuvud is used to convey the visual impression of a flower’s central mass as a single unit.

In botanical terminology, more technical terms such as capitulum (especially for plants in the Asteraceae family) or a description of the inflorescence type are preferred. Thus blomhuvud tends to be informal or poetic rather than a precise scientific label.
