Blendenprioritätsmodus

Blendenprioritätsmodus, often abbreviated as Av or A, is a semi-automatic shooting mode found on many digital cameras. In this mode, the photographer selects the desired aperture value, which controls the depth of field, while the camera automatically sets the appropriate shutter speed to achieve a correct exposure.

The aperture, represented by an f-number, determines how much light enters the lens and how much of the image is in focus. A smaller f-number (e.g., f/1.8) results in a wider aperture, allowing more light and creating a shallow depth of field, where the subject is sharp and the background is blurred. A larger f-number (e.g., f/16) creates a narrow aperture, letting in less light and producing a large depth of field, where more of the scene is in focus from foreground to background.

By using Blendenprioritätsmodus, photographers can prioritize the creative effect of depth of field. This is particularly useful in situations where controlling the focus area is crucial, such as portrait photography where a blurred background isolates the subject, or landscape photography where maximum sharpness throughout the scene is desired. The camera's internal light meter analyzes the scene and selects a shutter speed that, when combined with the chosen aperture, results in a well-exposed image. This frees the photographer from managing both exposure settings simultaneously, allowing them to concentrate on composition and artistic intent.
