Biosidit

Biosidit are substances or preparations containing one or more active substances intended to destroy, deter, render harmless, or exert control over harmful organisms by chemical or biological means. The term "bioside" is broad and encompasses products such as disinfectants, preservatives, pest control agents, and antifouling paints.

This regulation aims to ensure a high level of protection for humans and the environment by assessing the risks associated with biocidal products and authorizing their use only if they are deemed safe when used as intended. Similar regulatory frameworks exist in other parts of the world.

Common examples of biocides include chlorine-based disinfectants used for water treatment, wood preservatives to prevent fungal decay, rodenticides to control rat populations, and insecticides to combat disease-carrying insects. The effectiveness and safety of biocides depend heavily on their correct application, dosage, and adherence to specific use instructions. Misuse can lead to adverse environmental impacts or health risks. Research and development in this field continue to focus on creating more targeted and environmentally friendly biocidal solutions.
