Usage and scope. It is not a standardized field name; rather a descriptive label found in some Dutch-language texts, theses, and lab manuals. It can refer to the experimental portion of a larger study, or to a methodological category that includes various binding assays and analysis approaches.

Methods. Common techniques include binding assays such as equilibrium binding assays, surface plasmon resonance (SPR), isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC), fluorescence-based assays, microscale thermophoresis, and pull-down assays. Data are typically analyzed to obtain binding affinity (Kd), stoichiometry (n), and sometimes kinetic parameters (kon, koff), as well as thermodynamic quantities like ΔH and ΔS.
