Bihzads

Bihzads is a transliteration of the name Bihzad and may refer to people connected with the 15th–16th century Persian miniaturist Bihzad, or to modern individuals bearing the surname.

Historically, the term most often refers to the workshop of the painter Bihzad, active in Herat under Timurid patronage during the late 15th and early 16th centuries. Works attributed to the Bihzad workshop are noted for their refined brushwork, elegant figures, and sophisticated compositions, and they played a key role in the development of Persian miniature painting during this period.

In the present day, Bihzad's name is used as a surname by some families in Iran and Central Asia. The plural Bihzads may appear in genealogical or biographical writing, but there is no widely recognized distinct organization or group formally called the Bihzads.
