Bifidobacterium suvujen refers to the collection of bacterial species within the genus Bifidobacterium. The genus is part of the phylum Actinobacteria and comprises Gram‑positive, anaerobic or microaerophilic rods that are commonly found in the gastrointestinal tracts of mammals, including humans. Members of Bifidobacterium are characterized by their ability to ferment a wide range of carbohydrates, producing lactate and acetate, and by their low oxygen tolerance.

Taxonomically, Bifidobacterium is placed in the family Bifidobacteriaceae. The type species is Bifidobacterium bifidum, which was first described in the early 20th century.
