Bicikli

Bicikli is the Hungarian term for bicycle, a two-wheeled pedal-powered vehicle used for transport, recreation, and sport. It typically features a frame, two wheels, a drivetrain powered by the rider’s pedals, a steering system with handlebars, and a saddle. Most bicycles use a chain drive to transfer power from the crankset to the rear wheel, with braking and gear systems to control speed and effort.

The modern bicycle traces its origins to the early 19th century, beginning with the velocipede and the later Laufmaschine. Pedals were added in the 1860s, and the so-called safety bicycle with equal-sized wheels, a chain drive, and a diamond frame emerged in the 1880s, establishing the design foundations still common today. Since then, bicycles have evolved with materials like steel, aluminum, and carbon fiber, and with advances in gearing, brakes, and aerodynamics.

Bicycles come in many types to suit different uses and terrains. Road bicycles are optimized for speed on pavement; mountain bikes handle rough trails; hybrid and city bikes blend features for everyday commuting; touring bicycles are built for long-distance trips; BMX bikes are designed for stunts. Electric bicycles add motors to provide pedal-assisted propulsion, extending range and reducing effort.

Usage spans personal transport, leisure, and sport. Bicycles offer health benefits, require relatively low operating costs, and have a smaller environmental footprint compared with motor vehicles. Safety considerations include wearing helmets, using lights and reflectors, and obeying traffic laws. Bicycles play a prominent role in urban mobility and are widely manufactured and distributed worldwide.
