The name Bhepatiittia appears in multiple texts and variations, commonly linked to the hypothetical Bhepatiite mineral family. Some authors derive it from a mythic term meaning “stone of endurance,” though etymologies vary across works.

In most depictions, Bhepatiittia crystallizes in a tetragonal system with a Mohs hardness around 9.2–9.4 and a density near 5.0 g/cm3.
