Bettåtgärder refers to actions taken to manage or control grazing animals in a particular area. These measures are implemented to optimize the use of forage, protect sensitive vegetation, and maintain the health of both the animals and the ecosystem. The specific type of bettåtgärd chosen depends on factors such as the species of animal, the type of land, the desired outcome, and environmental considerations.

Common bettåtgärder include adjusting the stocking density, which means controlling the number of animals per unit of land. This helps prevent overgrazing and allows vegetation to recover. Rotational grazing is another key strategy, where pastures are divided into smaller paddocks, and animals are moved from one paddock to another at regular intervals. This allows grazed areas to rest and regrow, promoting a more sustainable forage supply.

Timing of grazing is also important. For example, grazing might be timed to coincide with specific plant growth stages or to control invasive species. Fencing is often used to direct grazing to desired areas or to exclude animals from sensitive habitats, such as riparian zones or areas with endangered plant species.
