Betareceptors are a type of receptor found on the surface of cells throughout the body. They belong to a larger family of receptors known as G protein-coupled receptors. Their primary function is to respond to the binding of certain signaling molecules, most notably epinephrine and norepinephrine, which are hormones and neurotransmitters produced by the adrenal glands and nerve cells, respectively.
