Betaglukaanit

Betaglukaanit, or beta-glucans, are a group of polysaccharides composed of glucose units linked by beta-glycosidic bonds. They are found naturally in various sources, including cereals like oats and barley, as well as in the cell walls of fungi, yeast, algae, and some bacteria. The specific structure of beta-glucans, particularly the arrangement of the glucose units (e.g., beta-1,3 or beta-1,4 linkages), influences their physical and biological properties.

In human nutrition, oat and barley beta-glucans are well-known for their potential health benefits.
