Beszélgetéselemzés

Beszélgetéselemzés is the Hungarian term for conversation analysis. It is a micro-sociological perspective and a methodology that examines the structure and organization of talk, both verbal and non-verbal, in social interaction. The primary focus of conversation analysis is on the detailed, sequential organization of naturally occurring talk. Researchers meticulously transcribe recordings of conversations, paying close attention to pauses, overlaps, intonation, and other features of speech.

The goal of conversation analysis is to understand how participants in a conversation produce and understand social order through their interactions. It seeks to uncover the methods and practices that speakers use to accomplish social actions, such as asking questions, giving answers, making requests, and managing disagreements. Key concepts in conversation analysis include turn-taking, adjacency pairs (like question-answer or greeting-greeting), repair (how participants correct misunderstandings), and preference organization (the tendency for preferred actions, like acceptance of an offer, to be responded to more promptly than dispreferred actions, like refusal).

Developed by Harvey Sacks, Emanuel Schegloff, and Gail Jefferson, conversation analysis has been applied to a wide range of settings, including everyday conversations, doctor-patient interactions, courtroom proceedings, and customer service calls. It is a data-driven approach that emphasizes empirical evidence from actual talk.
