Bergbauanlagen are industrial facilities involved in the extraction of mineral resources from the earth. The term covers a wide range of operations, from underground mines, surface mines and open pit mines to processing plants and associated support infrastructure. In German mining law, a Bergbauanlage is defined by the Bundesberggesetz and the Bergbau- und Hüttenstättengesetz as a site that contains permanent infrastructure for extraction, including shafts, tunnels, bulkheads, pumping stations, ventilation systems, crushers, conveyors and storage facilities.
