Ben-Hadad is a name that appears multiple times in the Hebrew Bible, referring to several Aramean kings of Damascus. The name itself is believed to be a combination of "Ben," meaning "son of," and "Hadad," the name of the supreme god of the Arameans.

The first Ben-Hadad mentioned in the Bible is associated with the reign of Baasha of Israel, around the 10th century BCE. He is noted for his alliance with Asa of Judah against Baasha.

A later Ben-Hadad, likely Ben-Hadad II, is a more prominent figure. He is known for his aggressive campaigns against Israel during the reigns of Ahab and Jehoram. In 1 Kings 20, he besieged Samaria twice but was defeated by Ahab. Later, his army was destroyed by the Arameans themselves in a divine intervention. Despite these setbacks, Ben-Hadad II continued to pose a threat.

Another Ben-Hadad, possibly Ben-Hadad III, is mentioned in 2 Kings 13. He is recorded as having oppressed Israel for many years, reducing their army significantly. However, under the leadership of Joash, Israel managed to recapture cities lost to the Arameans and defeat Ben-Hadad in battle. These rulers, though antagonists to the Israelites, played a significant role in the geopolitical landscape of ancient Syria and its interactions with the kingdoms of Israel and Judah.
