Bellotook

Bellotook is a fictional town and civil parish in the country of Veridia. Located on the eastern bank of the Veridian River, it functions as a regional hub for agriculture, small-scale manufacturing, and crafts. As of 2020, the population is reported at about 12,500, with a dense historic core surrounded by farmland and hills.

Etymology: The origin of the name Bellotook is uncertain. Local scholars propose several possibilities, including a compound of a pre‑Roman tongue term for "beautiful" and a suffix meaning "place" or "hilltop". The name has been in continuous use since at least the medieval period.

History: Bellotook grew around a water-powered mill established in the 12th century. A railway line reached the town in the late 19th century, stimulating growth in industry and commerce. The town today preserves a number of historic buildings from the 17th to 19th centuries.

Economy and infrastructure: Agriculture—especially apples and cereals—remains a cornerstone of the local economy, complemented by woodworking and ceramic workshops. The town attracts visitors to its old town center and riverside. It is served by a regional rail line and two main roads.

Culture and landmarks: Bellotook hosts an annual Bellotook Day festival featuring markets, parades, and performances. Notable sites include the Bell Tower, a 18th‑century church tower; the Old Mill; and Riverside Park, which hosts community events and seasonal fairs.
