Belcekz

Belcekz is a town and administrative municipality in the northern Lowlands of Veridia. It serves as the capital of Belcekz District and lies along the Belcekz River, about 90 kilometers northeast of Veridia City.

Geography and climate: The town sits on rolling terrain at approximately 180 meters above sea level. The Belcekz River sustains nearby farmland, and the area experiences a temperate climate with dry summers and wet winters.

Belcekz traces its origins to a medieval river crossing and market settlement. It grew with regional trade in the early modern era, gained municipal status in the 17th century, and expanded further after the arrival of a regional railway in the late 19th century.

As of the latest census, Belcekz has about 12,500 residents. The population is predominantly Veridian-speaking, with small minority communities. The municipal council comprises twelve members, headed by an elected mayor.

The local economy centers on agriculture, including grapes and grains, supported by light manufacturing and services. The market square hosts weekly trading days, and heritage tourism focuses on the historic center and the riverfront.

Notable sites include the 17th-century Belcekz Clock Tower and remnants of old city walls. Belcekz is connected by a regional rail line and a major highway; the nearest international airport lies about 60 kilometers away.
