Bedrijvende

Bedrijvende is a Dutch term that translates to "active" or "doing" in English. It is most commonly used in grammar to describe a verb in the active voice, as opposed to the passive voice. In the active voice, the subject of the sentence performs the action of the verb. For example, in the sentence "The dog chased the ball," the dog is the subject and performing the action of chasing, making "chased" a bedrijvende verb.

Conversely, a passive voice construction would rephrase the sentence to "The ball was chased by the dog." Here, the ball is the subject, but it is not performing the action; the action is being done to it. In Dutch grammar, the distinction between bedrijvende (active) and passive voice is important for sentence structure and meaning.
