Baumwolldämmstoffe
Baumwolldämmstoffe, also known as cotton insulation, are a type of thermal insulation material made from recycled or virgin cotton fibers. These fibers are typically processed and formed into batts, rolls, or loose-fill insulation. The natural properties of cotton provide good thermal resistance, making it an effective material for reducing heat transfer in buildings. Cotton insulation is known for its ability to absorb moisture without significantly losing its insulating R-value, though excessive moisture can lead to mold growth. It is often treated with borates or other fire retardants to improve its resistance to fire and pests. Due to the use of recycled materials, Baumwolldämmstoffe can be considered an environmentally friendly option, reducing waste and requiring less energy to produce compared to some synthetic insulation materials. Its installation is similar to other common insulation types, though some products may require specific handling precautions. The sound-absorbing qualities of cotton insulation also contribute to noise reduction within a building.
