Bangalos

Bangalos are a traditional type of land transportation from the Philippines, commonly known as "saloop" or "kagu". This contraption is essentially a twin-tube pulley driven by human power, typically used for farming or transporting goods.

The Bangalos typically have two wheels at the front and one at the back. The two-wheeled section at the front is used to provide thrust, while the single-wheeled section at the back serves as a fixed location to hold the load. It usually has a long, elevated platform for passengers or goods.

There are also different types of Bangalos found in various regions of the Philippines. Some are specifically designed for specific purposes, such as pulling wooden boats. Another version has a pivoting platform, which allows the user to shift the weight of the load while using the device.

The construction of a Bangalo typically involves local materials, such as wood and fibers, with the wheels and axles often fashioned from durable wood or bamboo. Since the vehicle is pulled manually, Bangalos require minimal maintenance. Though less efficient than more modern modes of transportation, Bangalos remain an essential tool for many people in rural areas.

Bangalos can be seen in regions with widespread areas of rice fields and also in populated districts with a significant presence of farmers and related services.
