Bandaufnahmen refers to the process of recording audio onto magnetic tape. This method was the dominant form of audio recording from the early 20th century until the widespread adoption of digital recording technologies in the late 20th and early 21st centuries. Magnetic tape consists of a thin plastic film coated with a magnetic material, typically iron oxide or chromium dioxide. When audio signals are passed through a recording head, they induce magnetic patterns on the tape that correspond to the original sound waves. During playback, a playback head reads these magnetic patterns, converting them back into an electrical signal that can be amplified and reproduced as sound.
