Bamanankan

Bamanankan is the most widely spoken language in Mali, serving as a lingua franca for a significant portion of the country's population. It is part of the Manding branch of the Niger-Congo language family. While often referred to as Bambara, Bamanankan is the preferred name used by its speakers. It is a tonal language with a subject-verb-object (SVO) sentence structure.

The language has a rich oral tradition and has gained prominence in various forms of media, including music, radio, and television. While French remains the official language of Mali, Bamanankan is increasingly used in education and government administration.
