Baktériám are single-celled microorganisms that are found in virtually every environment on Earth, from soil and water to the human body. This rapid reproduction rate allows bacterial populations to grow quickly under favorable conditions. Research into bacteria has led to the development of antibiotics to combat infectious diseases and the utilization of bacteria in various industrial processes, such as the production of yogurt and the treatment of wastewater.
