Bakteerimuodostuksiin refers to the various structures and formations that bacteria can create. These are essential for their survival, reproduction, and interaction with their environment. One of the most common bacterial formations is the biofilm. Biofilms are communities of bacteria encased in a self-produced matrix of extracellular polymeric substances (EPS). This matrix provides protection from environmental stresses, such as antibiotics, desiccation, and immune responses. Biofilms can form on a wide range of surfaces, including medical implants, industrial equipment, and natural environments like rocks in streams.

Another significant bacterial formation is the endospore. Endospores are dormant, tough, and non-reproductive structures produced by certain bacteria, like those in the genera *Bacillus* and *Clostridium*. They are highly resistant to heat, radiation, chemicals, and desiccation, allowing bacteria to survive unfavorable conditions for extended periods. When conditions improve, the endospore can germinate back into a vegetative (actively growing) bacterial cell.

Bacterial colonies are also a type of formation, typically observed on solid growth media in laboratory settings. A colony originates from a single bacterium or a small cluster of bacteria that multiply, forming a visible mass of cells. These colonies can have distinct shapes, sizes, and textures, which are often used for bacterial identification. Furthermore, some bacteria can form specialized structures for motility, such as flagella, or for attachment and genetic exchange, like pili. These diverse formations highlight the adaptability and resilience of bacterial life.
