Bakstrømsbeskyttelse, also known as reverse current protection or backfeed protection, is a safety feature used in electrical systems to prevent electricity from flowing in the wrong direction. This is particularly important in systems with multiple power sources, such as those incorporating renewable energy sources like solar panels or wind turbines, or in systems with backup generators.

The primary function of bakstrømsbeskyttelse is to ensure that power flows only from the intended source to the grid or load. Without it, if a local power source, like a solar inverter, produces power at a voltage higher than the grid voltage, it could push electricity back into the utility grid.
