A Bakhtinféle work foregrounds dialogue between distinct voices rather than presenting a single authoritative viewpoint. It often employs polyphony, where narrators or characters articulate incompatible worldviews; it may incorporate heteroglossia, varied linguistic registers reflecting social strata, ideologies, or languages. The technique may involve carnival-like reversal, where hierarchies are unsettled, and the text invites contestatory reading rather than closure.

Uses and scope: The label is used to analyze novels, plays, and increasingly film or digital media that stage dialogic interaction or polyphonic narration. In criticism, Bakhtinféle readings highlight negotiations of power, ideology, and identity, especially in postcolonial, post-Soviet, or Latin American texts; they may also inform pedagogy by encouraging multiple interpretive voices.
