Badung

Badung is a regency in Bali Province, Indonesia. It is among the island’s most populous and economically significant regions, and its administrative capital is Mangupura. The regency includes several well-known tourist areas, such as Kuta, Legian, Seminyak, Jimbaran, and Nusa Dua, which concentrate Bali’s hospitality industry, shopping, and entertainment venues.

Geography and administration: Badung covers a portion of southern Bali along the coast and is divided into multiple districts (kecamatan). The regency hosts Ngurah Rai International Airport, the island’s primary gateway, located near Tuban and Kuta. The name Badung derives from the historical Badung Kingdom, a traditional Balinese polity that once governed parts of the region.
