Avnu

Avnu Alliance is an industry consortium formed to promote interoperable, standards-based audio and video networking using the AVB and Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) technologies. It coordinates a certification program, the Avnu Network Certification, that tests devices for conformance with AVB/TSN specifications and organizes plugfests to verify cross-vendor interoperability.

Certified devices are intended to enable reliable, low-latency synchronized streaming of audio and video across Ethernet networks, spanning professional installations to consumer products. The alliance’s work centers on aligning with key IEEE 802.1 standards, particularly those governing time synchronization (802.1AS), stream reservation (802.1Qat), and traffic shaping (802.1Qav), and it extends to broader TSN profiles as the standards evolve.

Avnu’s activities support use cases in broadcast, live sound, theater, installed AV, and enterprise environments that require deterministic media transport. The organization publishes technical guidelines, reference designs, and best-practice documents for members and partners, and it hosts interoperability events to facilitate collaboration among vendors.
