Automobilowy

Automobilowy is a Polish adjective that denotes relation to automobiles or the automotive sector. It is formed from the noun automobil (car) with the adjectival suffix -owy. In contemporary usage, the more common term for car-related matters is samochodowy, but automobilowy remains established in formal, historical, or technical contexts. It appears in compound expressions such as przemysł automobilowy (automotive industry) and technologia automobilowa (automobile technology).

The word automobil itself is a loanword with historical roots in late 19th to early 20th century European usage, often appearing in older technical literature. In modern Polish, usage of automobilowy is somewhat narrower, typically restricted to specific terms and older sources, whereas samochodowy has become the everyday standard.
