Automatinio

Automatinio is a grammatical form in Lithuanian. It is the genitive singular masculine/neuter form of the adjective automatinis, which means automatic or automated. In Lithuanian, adjectives agree with the nouns they modify in gender, number, and case; for masculine and neuter nouns in the genitive singular, automatinis becomes automatinio. This form is commonly used in phrases that express possession or attribution, for example: automatinio proceso valdymas (the control of the automatic process) or automatinio įrenginio funkcijos (the functions of the automatic device).

Etymology and formation: automatinis derives from the root autom- meaning self-moving, itself from Greek automatos, with the suffix -inis forming an adjective. The automatinio form is simply the required inflected variant for the genitive singular masculine/neuter.
