Austauschteilchen

Austauschteilchen, also known as exchange particles or force carriers, are fundamental particles in quantum field theory that mediate the fundamental forces of nature. These particles are bosons, meaning they have integer spin. When two particles interact, they do so by exchanging Austauschteilchen. The properties of the Austauschteilchen, such as their mass and charge, determine the nature and range of the force they mediate.

There are four known fundamental forces, each associated with specific Austauschteilchen. The electromagnetic force, responsible for interactions between electrically charged particles, is mediated by photons. Photons are massless and electrically neutral. The strong nuclear force, which binds quarks together to form protons and neutrons, and holds atomic nuclei together, is mediated by gluons. Gluons are also massless but carry a type of "color charge." The weak nuclear force, responsible for radioactive decay, is mediated by W and Z bosons. These particles are massive and electrically charged (W bosons) or neutral (Z boson). Finally, the gravitational force, which governs the attraction between objects with mass, is theoretically mediated by the graviton, although this particle has not yet been experimentally observed. The exchange of these particles, even if virtual, creates the forces we observe.
