Aurinkoflareita, also known as solar flares, are sudden, intense bursts of radiation emanating from the Sun. These energetic events occur when magnetic energy that has built up in the solar atmosphere is suddenly released. Aurinkoflareita are often associated with sunspots, which are temporary phenomena on the Sun's photosphere that appear as darker spots than surrounding areas due to lower temperatures.

The energy released during an aurinkoflare can travel across the solar system at the speed of light. This radiation includes electromagnetic waves across the spectrum, from radio waves to X-rays and gamma rays. While aurinkoflareita themselves do not directly harm life on Earth due to our planet's atmosphere and magnetic field, the associated phenomena can have significant impacts.

One such impact is the release of charged particles, known as a coronal mass ejection (CME). If a CME is directed towards Earth, it can interact with our planet's magnetosphere, leading to geomagnetic storms. These storms can disrupt satellite operations, cause power grid fluctuations, and create spectacular auroral displays visible at higher latitudes. The intensity of an aurinkoflare is classified using a letter system (A, B, C, M, X), with X-class flares being the most powerful.
