Atordoar

Atordoar is a Portuguese verb that translates to "to stun," "to daze," or "to bewilder" in English. It describes a state of confusion or temporary incapacity caused by a shock, surprise, or strong emotion.

The term can be used in various contexts. Physically, it can refer to being stunned by a blow or impact, rendering someone temporarily unable to think clearly or react. For example, "O golpe o atordoou por um momento" means "The blow stunned him for a moment." Emotionally, atordoar can describe the feeling of being overwhelmed or disoriented by sudden, significant news or events. "A notícia de sua partida me atordoou" translates to "The news of his departure dazed me."

Figuratively, atordoar can also suggest a state of mental confusion or perplexity, as if one's senses have been overloaded.
