Atestszövetek

Atestszövetek, often translated as "body tissues" in English, refers to the organized collections of similar cells that perform a specific function within an organism. These cells are not isolated but are held together by an extracellular matrix, which provides structural support and facilitates communication between cells. Tissues are the building blocks of organs, and the coordinated action of different tissues within an organ enables it to carry out its specialized role.

There are four primary types of atestszövetek in animals: epithelial tissue, connective tissue, muscle tissue, and nervous tissue. Epithelial tissues cover body surfaces, line cavities, and form glands. They are involved in protection, secretion, absorption, and filtration. Connective tissues support, connect, and separate other tissues and organs. This broad category includes bone, cartilage, blood, and adipose tissue. Muscle tissues are specialized for contraction and movement, and include skeletal, smooth, and cardiac muscle. Nervous tissue, found in the brain, spinal cord, and nerves, is responsible for transmitting electrical signals to coordinate bodily functions. The study of atestszövetek is known as histology.
