Aterrazaron

Aterrazaron is the third-person plural form of the Spanish verb aterrazar, meaning to convert a sloped landscape into a series of flat, step-like platforms or terraces. This land modification technique is used to create arable areas on hillsides, reduce surface runoff, and improve water infiltration and soil conservation.

The act of aterrazar involves shaping the slope into terraces and building retaining walls, typically from locally available materials such as stone, earth, or rubble. Terrace construction helps prevent erosion, slows water flow, and can extend the cultivable area in mountainous or hilly regions.
