Assyriologists
Assyriologists are scholars who study Assyriology, the academic field dedicated to the study of the ancient Near East, particularly Mesopotamia, from the earliest periods of Sumerian civilization to the early Islamic period. This encompasses the study of the civilizations of Assyria and Babylonia, as well as related cultures such as the Sumerians, Akkadians, Chaldeans, and Amorites. The geographical focus is primarily the region corresponding to modern-day Iraq, but also extends to parts of modern-day Syria, Turkey, Iran, and northeastern Saudi Arabia.
